$348,000,000 Mega Millions jackpot won in VA

Someone is celebrating in VA, and for good reason. A single ticket has won the jackpot from the most recent Mega Millions lotto drawing. Lottery officials stated the winning ticket from Friday night's drawing worth $348,000,000 was sold in VA. The identity of the newest millionaire has not been determined, nor has the location of the ticket purchase. The winning numbers drawn Friday night, June 27th, 2025 were 18, 21, 29, 42, 50 with Mega Ball number 02 and Megaplier X. The holder of the winning ticket will now have to decide to either take the 30 equal annual payments with yearly payment about $13.38 million before taxes, or the one time cash payment in the amount of $155.5 million before tax withholding. The winning ticket holder is highly suggested to sign the ticket, place it in a safe place and get in touch with lottery officials as soon as possible. Jackpot winner has the opportunity to choose the cash value of the jackpot while claiming the prize. If the winner does not make choice, the payment option will revert to annuity by default.
Besides the jackpot won on Friday, Mega Millions produced far more pleased winners walked away with huge prizes. A total of 5 lucky players won the 3rd prize. These included 5 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 185 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 500 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were 599,777 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, June 27th, 2025 drawing.
The new Mega Millions lottery drawing, Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, will feature a jackpot of $50,000,000 with cash option $$22.4 million.
Mega Millions game is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
