Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot increases to $160,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

Nobody won Friday night's Mega Millions lottery drawing, worth $145,000,000, bringing the estimated grand prize on Tuesday to $160,000,000. The cash value will be a projected $$68.9 million. The numbers from Friday, August 28th, 2026 drawing were 08-17-29-42-55 with Mega Ball 02 and Megaplier . There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 149 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
Although the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were two lucky tickets matched the first 5 numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 4 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Friday evening included 149 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. There were 367 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 different ways to win, there were a total of 421,442 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, August 28th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions game is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prizes. Approximately 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
