Friday's Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $458,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune is going to be up for grabs on Friday, when Mega Millions has $458,000,000 on the line. The cash option stands at $$212.4 million. Mega Millions' jackpot increased since no one matched all 6 numbers drawn Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday night, February 24th, 2026 were 12-39-43-49-55 with Mega Ball 23 and Megaplier . There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 96 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
Though the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were two lucky players that correctly matched all 5 white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won $1,000,000 cash each.
In addition, 10 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 172 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. There were 453 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were 567,826 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prizes. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The overall chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions grand prize are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one lump sum cash payout instead.
