Mega Millions jackpot goes to $82 million; 1 ticket won the second prize

The grand prize for Friday Mega Millions game leaped to $82 million (cash value $59.9 million) after no player matched all 6 winning numbers Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 drawing were 07-18-21-31-40 with Mega Ball number 09 and Megaplier X4.
While the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There was only one lucky ticket matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.
Also, 25 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 443 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. 1238 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
There were 98,708 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 49354 grand prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments.
