Friday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $125,000,000; One second prize ticket sold

The Mega Millions multi-state lottery jackpot went to $125,000,000 (cash value $$56.9 million) Friday night when there were no jackpot winners in the $100,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The winning numbers from Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025 drawing were 15, 37, 38, 41, 64 with Mega Ball 21 and Megaplier x.
Though the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There was a sole lucky winner correctly matched all 5 lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The one second prize winning ticket(s) bought in won a quarter million dollar cash each.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 8 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 184 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. There were 527 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different prize tiers, there were 670,066 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions can be played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record largest jackpot in North American lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prizes. Around 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
