Mega Millions jackpot builds to $464,000,000 Friday night; One ticket matched the first 5 numbers

With no winner in the latest draw, the Mega Millions game grand prize is going to be worth a projected $464,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$228.2 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Friday. The amount carried over because no player matched all five lotto numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $435,000,000 jackpot Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, August 13th, 2024 drawing were 34-55-59-65-70 with Mega Ball number 12 and Megaplier x4.

Even though the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There was a single second prize winning ticket from Tuesday night's drawing, matching the first five white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The one second prize winning ticket(s) sold in NY won $1,000,000 cash each.

In addition, 13 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 367 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 962 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.

With nine different prize tiers, there were a total of 1,728,802 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, August 13th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one lump-sum cash payout instead.
