Powerball jackpot leaps to $86,000,000 Monday night; One second prize ticket sold

The Powerball jackpot is on the move again. The grand prize for the Monday, January 5th, 2026 drawing rises to $86,000,000 with the lump-sum cash payout at a projected $$38.8 million. The numbers from Saturday night, January 3rd, 2026 were 18-21-40-53-60 and Powerball was 23.
Though there was no jackpot winner Saturday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. There was a single lucky ticket correctly matched the first 5 numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the 2nd prize. The 1 second prize ticket(s) from TX matched all 5 white ball numbers and also chose Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2,000,000 cash win!
Additional prizes won Saturday night included 17 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Powerball and won $10,000. 2 additional players not only matched 4+1, but also chose the Power Play option, multiplying the winnings by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each!
There were 37,330 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There was a lucky New Yorker matched 4 white ball numbers in addition to the Powerball and won $10,000. 75 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will receive $100 each. 6 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will receive $200 each.
With nine prize levels, the Saturday night's drawing created 521,721 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball is an American popular lottery game can be played in 44 member states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play option, which increases the original prizes except grand prize. The minimum Powerball advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments in 29 years. Winners may select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
