Friday's Mega Millions jackpot goes to 240,000,000; Three players won the second prize

There has been another rollover in the jackpot for the multistate Mega Millions game - to 240,000,000. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $124.4 million. The jackpot grew since nobody hit all six winning numbers from Tuesday night's 218,000,000 drawing. The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night, June 6th, 2023 were 06, 12, 23, 29, 57 with Mega Ball 04 and Megaplier X2.
While the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were three lucky winners correctly matched the first 5 numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The three lucky ticket(s) bought in CA,GA,IL, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 12 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 357 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 942 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 prize levels, there were a total of 1,089,698 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prizes. Approximately 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
