Enormous Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

The jackpot in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game has been increased to $421,000,000. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $$195.9 million. The prize amount was rolled over since no player matched all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number in Friday's $393,000,000 drawing. The next Mega Millions game drawing is Tuesday night. The numbers from Friday, May 17th, 2024 drawing were 08, 17, 40, 60, 70 and the Mega Ball was 03, Megaplier was 2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 15 draws since Friday, March 29th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in NJ, matched all six numbers for a $0 million top prize.
Though there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There was a sole lucky ticket matched the first 5 numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in MI won $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Friday night included 16 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 344 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 959 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different ways to win, there were 1,587,470 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Friday, May 17th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. Around 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot.
